Something edgy, fun & conetemporary.

Century furniture is one of my favorite furniture lines.  I took the photo below in their showroom during the fall 2009 furniture market.  Pictured is one of my very favorite contemporary consoles.  It’s just beautiful.  Quite a statement piece.  I love how they paired it with the club chair that has the chrome trim around the frame.  Tres chic!

Well, I’m back in New York.  It seems I can’t get enough of this city lately.  This week I’m here studying under the fabulous Steve Nobel with a lovely group of 9 other interior designers from across the country.  Tonight we had a chance to meet, greet, & treat.  We socialized for a bit & met each respective designer & briefly discussed our hometowns & backgrounds.  Then we were off to our treat.  The treat was getting to go to the Christie’s Postwar Contemporary Art Sale.  Let me tell you, this was a treat indeed!  There were 47 lots and they all sold for a pretty penny.  We all sat watching in amazement at the numbers that rolled in on each one of these fabulous works of art.

Flirty chairs.

These armless chairs are a definite favorite of mine!  I love the ribbon print on the cushion fabric.  The outside of the frame is done in black leather.  Not only are they super stylish, but they are also crazy comfy!  I love throwing a fun whimsy print like this onto some chairs for a room.  Instant drama & interest.  These sexy chairs really say “Check me out”.

Fun with neutrals.

Who says a neutral color palette has to be boring?  This birthday wish is for all of those scared to commit to color.  I wish for you to take a few risks & select a few fun prints to liven up your space.  Like these great geometric prints shown on a white sofa by Hickory Chair.  It gives you that added pop that tells you to take notice of this well designed room.

A beautiful bedside table.

A bedside table can help make or break a bedroom.  I often like to mix & match.  However, when you find something really fabulous, I say go for two!  Take these fabulous options by Hickory Chair for example.  The first one is their reed & ribbon chest.  It’s just stunning.  Hickory Chair offers this piece in a variety of wood & hand painted finishes.  The second is the Normandy chest.   I love the scallopped top & antique feel.  I’m getting ready to show these to a client as options on either side of an iron bed for a guest bedroom.  I’m specifying a parchment finish with gold leaf detailing.  SO excited to see which one they pick & how it turns out!  I will keep you posted.

According to my poll asking which room in your home is in major need of a make-over, many of you are in the same boat as me.  My master bedroom is definitely screaming for a make-over.  When that day comes, I definitely want a comfy chaise like this in there.  This soft blue beauty is by Lexington.  I can just imagine curling up in it & reading a book or snuggling with my daughter & watching a movie.  This is a must-have for my master bedroom.

I absolutely love this spun glass vase!  You could use it as a floral vase or just by itself for a beautiful accessory in your home decor.  This would make a fabulous birthday or Christmas gift for that very special woman on your list.

Chair fabulosity!!!  Definite statement piece.  I would love to find a special place in my home to fit this more than fabulous accent chair.  Since I am a sucker for animal print, I, of course, love the fabric on this chair!  The gold leaf detail on the rubbed black finish is to die for.  John Richard is always one of my “go to” lines to find that extra something special for my clients.
