You may remember that last year’s color of the year was Mimosa, a warm sunny shade of yellow. At IBB, we love color. There’s nothing better than seeing neutrals come alive with beautiful pops of color. Yellow can instantly make a home feel bright & welcoming.
The color combo of yellow paired with the very chic neutral gray is quickly catching on as one of the most sought after color palettes. Our model team executed the gorgeous duo on a recent project in Houston, led by IBB designer Susan Neff. Take a peek inside the family room…

The tufted ottoman coffee table is by Aidan Gray. I love the shelf at the bottom that allows for extra storage for books, magazines, or a basket to hide your remotes. Pillows with yellow & gray prints make a splash on the sofa & wing chairs.

The neutral stone gray wing back chairs are by Century. The art over the fireplace may be my absolute favorite part of the room. It brings so much life & color to the space & really draws your eye up.

We used a lively yellow & gray print from Duralee on the drapery panels which were designed by our drapery designer Gilda Wood. The breakfast table is also by Aidan Gray.

I love it!

Oh my!! So incredibly tranquil and serene!! The color story is divine
I love this yellow and love the way it works in a larger space. What are your thoughts about accent walls? Is a yellow accent wall too much? Will it work with my brown and black earthtone decorations?
Yellow is bold, and I’m a little nervous that it will be too much after I get it painted!
Also, what are the experts opinions on decorating a small space, such as an apartment? Any direction is appreciated!
I love gray & yellow even in my own wardrobe! What a great design- this room looks fabulous! Congrats to the homeowner!
I love yellow and I too love the pic over the fireplace.
This room is beautiful! I love the yellow…..makes it very bright and cheery.
I visited a model home that was decorated with this same color scheme. Although I must say your post was much more sophisticated. For those that are scared by the yellow, remember that it is the gray that tempers it.
Thanks for sharing!
I happened upon some Aidan Gray furniture in McKinney last year and fell in love with the look and design. I really like the AG table pictured above along with the slip-covered chairs and accents of yellow. So casual and still so chic.
I know this is an old post, but I’m curious about what paint color this yellow is. If anyone sees this and remembers, I’d appreciate it! Thanks so much!
