This may be one of the most exciting times in design, here in Dallas, over the past 20 years. The style is shifting quickly; the lines are becoming cleaner, the fabric lighter and the color brighter. So many of my clients are asking about the transitional style and what exactly it is, or is not. A lot of clients who are heavy into the Old World style are asking “How can I move towards a more Transitional look without getting rid of everything I own?” The answer is to thin out, less is more, lighten up the color, simplify the lines, and create a less heavy space….. A happy space! I love working in the transitional style, although much of what I have done has been Old World Tuscan, Texas style. Having the ability to adapt to current influences without losing the since of timeless beauty is one of the keys to great design work. My favorite room to design has always been the bedroom. Often forgotten and put on the back burner in favor of more publically seen areas, the bedroom should be the first space you create…. A romantic get-a-way every day…..
